(TSVN) In the past years, there were many models of aquaculture applying high technology that has been widely studied, applied and developed, bringing success to farmers as well as contributing to the sustainable development of the fisheries sector. Here are some typical technologies.
SUCCESS – high tech shrimp farming
The SUCCESS model of Skretting Vietnam has the following characteristics: For a farming system with a total area of 1 hectare, farmers need to spend about 60% of the surface area for water treatment (before use) and 40 % of the remaining surface area for ponds; pond area is about 500 – 2,000m² .; pond depth: 1.5 -1.8; Apart from the water discharge system from the central drain pipe that serves for water exchange and sludge discharge, water in the soil under the tarpaulin layer that leaked from inside of the tarpaulin should be drained out since it is a favorable environment for harmful bacteria, the tarpaulin will be inflated due to toxic gas that causing shrimp diseases. After 3 months of experience, the first farmers applying the SUCCESS model have seen its marked effectiveness, the average total profit per crop increases at least 30% compared to before.
Sustainable shrimp farming in soil pond
With a desire looking for a farming solution with the lowest investment cost and the highest success for shrimp farmers, Vinhthinh Biostadt has developed “Sustainable shrimp farming solution through a 3-phase model: Nurturing – Intermediate pond – soil pond ” that is suitable for each farming condition and easy for the farmers to implement. Specifically, in phase 1, shrimp are nursed in tanks with a moderate volume of less than 100 m³ for 20-25 days, it has a higher survival rate of 90% and the probability of success is over 95%. Then, the shrimp will be transferred to stage 2 in the intermediate pond. An intermediate pond is designed with an iron-frame circular tank system (or soil pond covered tarpaulin). Shrimps are cultured in intermediate tarpaulin ponds up to 60 days old (including tarpaulin-covered soil pond ). Shrimps are cultured in an intermediate tarpaulin pond until 60 days old (including nurturing of period 1), and then moved to soil pond of stage 3 with a low density of less than 80 shrimp/ m². With the biological process and disease prevention protocol in the phase of soil pond of Vinhthinh Biostadt, the amount of water changed daily is less, so it will limit the impact on the surrounding farming environment and the shrimp will overcome the problems caused by intestinal diseases that make difficult for farmers to raise shrimp in traditional ways.
Super intensive farming in many stages
Vietnam – Australia Group has got high efficiency in implementing 3-stages shrimp farming in Hoa Binh district, Bac Lieu province. The system is designed with 3 ponds: 1 nursery pond for phase 1, 1 nursery pond for phase 2 and 1 farming pond for stage 3. The circular design of the iron frame ensures better biosecurity than a tarpaulin-covered soil pond since outside water can not be leaked into the pond. In addition, there is an input water treatment system and wastewater treatment area, ensuring the water environment inside and does not affect the outside environment. Results of raising for 115 days, shrimp reached large size (24 shrimp/ kg); the productivity is nearly 10 tons / 1,600m². Greenhouse shrimp farming model with 3-stages process applying high technology has a higher survival rate of over 90%, decrease by 20-25% of production cost compared to traditional farming methods.
Super intensive shrimp farming with floating circular pond
Shrimp farming in circular floating tanks is an improved model, which has been applied by many localities throughout the country for many years, bringing remarkable results. The tanks are designed in round shape with volume depending on their function such as storage, treatment of inlet water (1,000 – 1,500 m³), nursing (200 -500m³) or for rearing (500 – 1,500 m³). In fact, after a time of monitoring, deploying and replicating this model, it showed a decrease of premature death of shrimp within 20 days after stocking. The survival rate at the end of the process reaches over 80%. This model does not use antibiotics and chemicals during the farming process, does not have negative impacts on the environment, creates a safe environment for shrimp’s growth, limits diseases. Low feed conversion ratio and short farming time reduce farming costs by 10-20% compared to other common farming models; The average output can be from 48 -60 tons/hectare. In 2020, this model has been deployed by Uni-President Vietnam Co.,Ltd to many farmers and their customers, bringing great success with high profit.
The farming model of Thang Long Smart System (TLSS)
The model deployed by Thang Long Biotechnology Science Co., Ltd. in 2020 at the customer’s farms in the Mekong Delta and has brought very positive results, with a success rate of 83% and high economic efficiency. The advantage of this model is that it can be applied to farms with a small area, low initial investment cost; farming systems are designed to ensure biosafety; the farming process is divided into many stages, so it is convenient for the care and management, especially the TLSS model helps the farmers to reduce the production cost compared to current farming methods.
Tilapia farming by Biofloc technology
The application of biofloc technology in intensive farming of tilapia promotes the growth rate, improves the use efficiency of feed, reduces environmental pollution in the pond. Biofloc technology has been successfully applied in intensive tilapia farming in some localities such as Bac Giang, Hanoi, Hai Duong, Vinh Phuc … This technology has a survival rate of 80-85%, the productivity is about 25 -40 tons /hectare/crop, it can raise to 2 crops/year. The ratio of profit/ capital is about 20% for a 6-month cycle.
Commercial lobster farming by RAS technology
With a technology transfer from Aquaculture Research Institute III, Dac Loc Seafood Co.,Ltd has completed the technology of raising lobster on goods scale in the coastal area of Phu Yen province. That is RAS technology – a circulating aquaculture system in a concrete tank with modern ancillary equipment such as a heat stabilization system, UV (water disinfection lamp in aquaculture), biological filter, filter drum, skimmer …. After 10-12 months of culture time, blue lobster can be at 350gr/shrimp. After 16-18 months of farming, Ornate spiny lobster may reach the size of 700g /shrimp. Shrimp has a high survival rate of about 75%, productivity can reach 4-5kg/m3. Especially, this technology does not pollute water resources, limit disease risks, avoid damage caused by natural disasters, reduce investment costs, create a new career for farmers: Commercial lobster farming in the terrestrial tank.
CPF- Combine generation 2
The model CPF-Combine generation 2, also known as “CPF-Combine version 2”, was transferred by C.P.Vietnam Livestock JSC. This is a model of multi-stage culture in floating circular tanks with the bottom covered by tarpaulin, it has many advantages; easy to manage, easy to construct, meet the needs of small household farming. The survival rate of shrimp is high, saving electricity and labor, farming environment and surrounding environment are safe. In this model, each worker can manage 2 tanks, instead of 1 as in Combine Generation 1. The most remarkable thing is that the success rate is up to 96%.
