(TSVN) – Raining, flooding causes changes in fishpond. Good measures can minimize damages for the pisciculturists.

For the fishpond

Discharge topwater to reduce rainwater volume in the pond; run water blower and aerator to limit the stratification of waters for intensive and semi-intensive ponds.

When it rains for a long time, water inside the pond will be, pH is decreased suddenly so it is necessary to lime surround the pond (about 10 kg/ 100m2) combining with lime for water to stabilize pH of the water and reduce the turbidity of water:

+ For the pond raising river fish: the amount of lime is from 0.7 – 1kg/100 m3 water;

+ For the pond raising brackish salt-water fish: the amount of lime is from 2 – 3kg/100 m3 water;

Strengthen the management of the pond,  check the environmental factors frequently to have timely measures.

After each storm, it is necessary to clean branches and leaves inside the pond.

For the fish cages

Check the environmental factors at the place of cages to make sure it is in the allowed threshold. It can be harvested in case of reaching commercial size. If the cages are in an unsuitable location, it should be moved to another place with clean water and stable salinity or move fish to a pond with an efficient water blower and aerator.

Check, clean anchors, buoys, and nets to ensure the safety for reproduction.

For the cages that the products in it have been harvested or washed away by the floods: repair, reinforce the cages, check the environmental factors to make sure the allowed threshold. A clearance of aquaculture area and water disinfection shall be done before fish stocking; Fish farming shall comply with the process and preventive measures of the disease.

Check and repair pens while ebb-tide. After rain or storm, clam usually gathers in the corners of pens so it should be leveled evenly on the whole flat.

Controlling aquatic health

Disinfect pond banks with disinfectant chemicals. Vitamin C and bioproducts should be added into animal feed to increase resistance for the seafood.

For the pond raising sea-fish, raw food should be minimized on rainy and stormy days. Prevent waterlogging actively, clean the feeding area.

Spread Vicato directly into the pond with the amount from 400 – 500g/ 1.000 m3 for detoxification and preventing external parasite.

Minimize seafood diseases by hanging a bag in the feeding area with lime and salt inside while feeding time (one type each bag for a corner). Growing fish in cages and pens should use the lime of 2 – 5 kg/bag, the salf of 10 – 20 kg/bag, the depth of lime or chemical bags should be in 1/3 – 1/2 depth of water inside the cages. Raising fish in the pond should use the lime of 1 – 2 kg/bag, the salf of 10 kg/bag. The above dosage can be changed within the permitted range based on scale, area, and volume of water. It should be executed per 10 – 15 days.

If the fish has a decrease of eating, skin, and gill of fish are viscous, there is a small amount of dead fish, then hanging lime and salt in 03 continuous days. (changing 10 – 15% of water for the model of growing fish in the pond). It is necessary to timely reports to the local veterinary staff or bring the fish sample to the nearest diagnostic department.

For shrimp, it is better to take advantage of the hours with no rain feeding shrimp by industrial food with high quality, the amount of food on rainy days should be reduced 20 – 25% compared to usual. Monitor strictly the environmental factors, add mineral timely to stabilize the environment, prevent the shrimp from the phenomenon of soft shell. The water from a common system or unknowing origin must not be used.
