In “the fair for start-up from local resources” hold by Business Studies and Assistance Center (BSA) at Duong Dinh Nghe park (ward No.8, district 11, Ho Chi Minh city) from January 27th to 31st, many visitors came to try new Banh tet in the booth of Uni-Sea Limited Company (Ha Noi).
There was no introduction information so when Mr.Pham Duc Cuong, co-founder of Uni-Sea Limited Company said that cake was made with fillet basa fish inside, many people were surprised because there was no fishy smell.
Mr. Cuong said, the main product of his company is marinated fillet basa fish; Banh chung, Banh tet were made by their co-operators for selling at Tet holiday.
“The characteristic of fillet basa fish is not fibrous, fish meat and fat are intertwined, the fishy smell is eliminated by anaerobic fermentation method, similar to the way making fermented fish. Most customers bought some after trying it. It was being sold at about 70,000 VND/cake (about 800 gram). Customers also can buy fillet basa fish for making Banh chung and Banh tet at home, this cake has a shorter time of cooking than making with pork, the price of this in supermarkets is about 50,000 VND/400gr” said Mr. Cuong.
Pangasius, basa fish are primary products of Vietnam, its export value has been reached over US$ 2 billion in 2018.
However, from 2019 up to now, the export of this catfish decreased due to the Covid-19, especially is in 2020.
Many enterprises have promoted consumption in the domestic market, it is a good protein that can replace pork in the context of lacking pork and is very expensive due to African Swine Fever.
“The fair for start-up from local resources” is a place for selling and producing goods of more than 40 booths of the youths from many provinces: Ha Noi, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Ninh Thuan, Long An, Tien Giang, Tra Vinh, Dong Thap, Ca Mau, Ho Chi Minh city, Ben Tre, Binh Dinh, An Giang, etc.
