Applying high technology in manufacturing not only enhances the value of pangasius but also brings the production strength to sustainable development.
In recent years, Vietnam pangasius was facing to many difficulties in production and export due to climate change, fish diseases, and high production cost of raw fish as well as technical obstacles and strict regulations on export.
Therefore, applying high technology in manufacturing not only enhances the added value of pangasius but also brings production strength to sustainable development.
The model of high technology fish farming of Nam Viet Joint Stock Company was deployed in early 2019 at Binh Phu village, Chau Phu district, An Giang province. The project includes 2 zones in the area of 600 hectares with a total capital of 4.000 billion VND.
In which, the area of 150 hectares is for high-quality three-level alevin production with the capital of 1,000 billion VND; 3,000 billion VND invested for 450 hectares of industrial area for high technology fish farming where is raising commercial fish, it is under operation at the moment and has sold products to the market.
Mr. Doan Toi, General Director of Nam Viet Joint Stock Company said, high-quality three-level alevin production area produced about 360 million alevins every year to serve for farming areas of the company and sell to the market.
Every year, the commercial fish farming area provides 200,000 tons of raw pangasius to serve for processing and export. The whole area is equipped modern facilities; nano aeration technology and bakture catalysts to treat water in the pond without discharge to the environment, no need to suck the bottom mud by labor as before.
“ There is no country that has export value more than ours, or very few if any; the second is about technology quality; the third is their price has no ability to compete with Vietnam. We grow all in closed circulation, fish feces is collected to be used as fertilizer, part of the water surface is used to create solar energy, we didn’t waste any, the byproduct is used to make advanced products with high value in thousands of USD. This is a typical model, our customers all over the world are very admired of it”, said Mr. Toi.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong, The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry said that, in the past, the commercial fish was used only 30% of fillet fish for export, the remains were almost used to make animal feed, its head was sold to foreign countries at a low price, even some byproducts were thrown away. But in recent years, many enterprises in the Mekong Delta have applied the technology in processing stages to create valued products such as oil, collagen, gelatin, etc, so that the added value of pangasius is enhanced, Nam Viet is one of them.
The model of integrated farming area was built successfully and satellite suppliers are always maintained, high technology with closed circulation and modern process serve for producing and processing.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong appreciated this model of high technology pangasius production, it was a stride in developing the value chain of the pangasius industry, especial is the invention in deep processing, take the initiative in the clean and diversity material source from pangasius.
“This is an industrial complex producing Vietnam’s pangasius goods which applied the best technology ever, it is an automatic process in both producing alevin and raising commercial fish with good control of the water and animal feed.
By this, the pangasius industry is restructuring towards modernization as well as showing its number one role in the international market on supplying the quantity and clean product in the international integration context. Particularly, it not only applies high technology but also denotes the cyclical industrial direction with more than 50 kinds of product”, emphasized Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong.
Pangasius is one of the two decisive exported agricultural products of An Giang province. During the past time, this province has stepped up the production chain of high-quality three-level alevin to recover the pangasius industry in this difficult context. Specifically, this province has attracted 4 enterprises investing in this model such as Viet – Australia Group with 104 hectares, Nam Viet JSC with 600 hectares, in which 150 hectares of alevin production, Vinh Hoan JSC with 48.3 hectares, Loc Kim Chi Development Co., Ltd with 350 hectares.
These projects have been deploying and gradually improve the quality of pangasius alevin. Also, facilitate the enterprises to expand the production chain of alevin and commercial product, the stakeholders share “the right and responsibility”, consumption enterprise is the nuclear one in the chain.
Mr. Tran Anh Thu, Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People’s Committee shared the direction of pangasius production afterwards, “The project of three-level alevin production, especial is 400 hectares in Vinh Hoa hillock will supplies high-quality alevin for the Mekong Delta, serving 80% of the demand.
An Giang province is focusing on large scale farming areas and high technology industrial zones which are in association with consumption. The farming process is built in an industrial direction from growing to processing in order to reduce disease and improve the quality.
The fisheries of Vietnam in general and of An Giang province in particular is facing difficulties in production and export. Therefore, it is necessary to apply technology in production and management to remove the bottleneck in producing and processing pangasius, the production cost is reduced so competitive capacity in increased, gradually brings the pangasius to higher sustainable development.
